How does one know what they were meant to do?
Often I’ve asked my self this and what are the results? Nothing really; I continue the same old walk that I always have, being a good person and being as Godly as I can, yet feeling like I can do more with my talents and/or gifts and experiences.

A couple years ago I did a class to help you find your Spiritual gifts but never applied it to my walk… It was very apparent that those WERE my gifts. So my wife and I joined a small group that is going over this again but this time my major focus is going to be on ‘How to put my gifts to a good use.’

Starting a life changing process

So recently I started working out. Not just cardio, but lifting... I'm in the process of changing my body and making it stronger. Unlike in the past this process is not exciting, I'm keeping track of everything I can, all my lifts and weights... so I can see my gains. It's the best thing you can do, it's such a confidence builder.

I also started going to a barn in the middle of the country and taking part in a boxing workout. That is one of the best workouts I've taken part in. It's been a huge help to my chest and arms, as well as strengthening my knees. Soon I'll start posting all my lifts and where I started and where I am today along with my body measurements.

Choice about presents...

You know I recently seen first hand one of the those bad things that my kids could have been tought. The fact that one child got more gifts then the other. Had to have that long talk about how his gifts cost more and how he should be greatful for what he gets. After talking the wife and I made the choice to only get our kids one toy this year. I spent a bit of time in my son's room looking around at all the toys he owns and never plays with. Really, every year the family buys him a ton of toys. What does he play with? the Game console, the computer... not the toys. So no more wasting money and buying stuff that will collect dust.

Plus this allows us to really focus on what Christmas is about... which belive it or not, is not presents.

Look what the world is coming to. I can now load Windows XP on a Mac!! and I have seen report after report about Windows running better on a Mac then OS X! Hmm, so Microsoft takes adavnage of hardware better then the program made to be loaded on a Mac? Just goes to show that Microsoft is a great company.

So I was talking to a buddy about the future of computers and where we'll be in a year or two, and this is what I came up with:

Today I seen yet another one of those emails or web Pages about not buying some product do to the fact they are not Christian. Hate to break it to allot of people but if you stopped buying from companies that supported (Sinners) or had (sinners) running them you would be a rich man.

To best read this insert a sin in place if sinner. (i.e. Liar, Gay, Cheater, thief, ect.)

How do with solve this? Got me...but stop making one sinner higher then another. A sin is a sin is a sin!

Allot of talk is hitting the Christian Sceen about this movie and allot of Christians are saying to not go and see it, to not support it. They think that if they and all the people they can reach will not go see it that for some strange reason it will hit Dan Brown or the movie maker in the pocket book. You know I'm pretty sure that he is doing fine and will continue to do fine in that area.

I say Go See It! Why? because when a person that is not religious goes and sees it brings up the movie, there is your in! I think it is a great conversation starter. If you have yet to read the book and your like a good Mistery, I would pick it up. Dan Brown is a good writer, just mis-lead. All in all people will go see it. People will ask questions and you should be able to awnser. Also, if you have a solid foundation in you walk, pick up a copy of the Nag Hamndi, and read the Gosple of Thomas and Philip. Don't just go off what your heard.

My Son turned Seven!

Seven years old now! Wow! Man these kids grow up fast...remember back when you were a kid and you never thought you grew up fast, but everyone always said you did... So my son turned seven and he got an entire uniform for Da Bears! Makes me so happy to see my son such a huge fan of the best football team. Kids get the coolest things! I was so proud of my son this week end, he work really hard on his room (man was it a mess) with a little direction from Dad we got it clean! Plus he let loose the greatest belch I have ever heard come out of him this weekend, he's my little man!

Also the time has come to get my little girl a big girl bed! My little girl is growing up so fast. So now we get to go out and find a bed for my little girl... I think it is going to be a really girlly bed, it is amazing all the differant outragous beds that are out there, my wife and I were looking online and seen a bed that was a castle! A CASTLE! it was huge castle bed with a house painted on it... the price it was it should have been made out of stone and had a built in moat! Then there was the Cinderella carage bed.

One more week of football, so the wife is getting happy...then the olympics start. Everyday for the past five days or so, I've been focusing my praying on my wife and how great see is. How much se does for me and my family...It is really starting to make a differance in my life and thought process...Like a fool I use to focus on all the little things that she didn't do that I thought she should... instead of all the stuff that she does do. I don't envy her life, she has to deal with Sadie after I spoil her all the time I'm with her. So I thank God for my wife. Plus she puts up with me and all my issues and habbits (man, never thought a person would be able to do that.)

"For most of its existence, eBay has enjoyed a virtual monopoly, if not an Eliot Spitzer wants to talk sort of monopoly. It now commands more than 90 percent of the online auction market, and from 1999 to 2004 it posted at least 40 percent annual profit growth every year, even as brawny competitors like Amazon and Yahoo were taking runs at its core business."

Yet, for all its phenomenal success, in 2006 eBay (Research) will face the toughest challenges of its 10-year history. The armies massing on its borders hail from Google (Research) and Microsoft (Research), but rather than aim for eBay's auction business, the two behemoths want to use their strength in search and advertising to build dominance in online classifieds--the format that many analysts think will define the future of e-commerce. "eBay auctions are still too hard for many consumers to navigate," says Safa Rashtchy, senior analyst covering e-commerce and search at Piper Jaffray. "Overall, people prefer to buy locally, but there hasn't been an efficient way for them to find each other."

Fans of the populist website Craigslist, of which eBay owns a 25 percent stake, might disagree. But Craigslist doesn't have an online payment system or an industrial-strength shopping search engine that could help it grow into a major global player. Not to mention that founder Craig Newmark and CEO Jim Buckmaster seem in no hurry to expand on that scale. Two of the most formidable companies on the planet, however, are in more of a rush. Google and Microsoft certainly have the resources: Some say the invasion into eBay's turf began when Louis Monier, former director of advanced technology at eBay and the wizard behind its search innovations, was poached by Google last summer. The challengers also have a motive: The burgeoning online classifieds business is growing at a far faster clip than auctions.

Microsoft is expected to launch its listings service, code-named Fremont, toward the middle of this year (as part of Windows Live). Users will be able to post classifieds for free, limit access by buddy lists, and focus listings geographically; a tie-in to MSN's Virtual Earth mapping service will help buyers and sellers find each other easily. Google's foray, called Google Base, went live in mid-November. While still rudimentary, the beta version is a powerful foundation on which Google could build any number of products that compete with eBay. A massive, searchable database, the site allows users to post everything from recipes and concert dates to used cars and job listings, and local merchants can upload inventory data so buyers can see what's on the shelves in the bricks-and-mortar stores in their neighborhoods. With eBay acquiring nearly half of its new buyers and sellers in the United States through paid listings, mostly on Google and Yahoo, it could lose buyers if Google puts its own search results first.

"People could bypass eBay altogether," says Scot Wingo, CEO of ChannelAdvisor, which helps big eBay sellers like Best Buy maximize online sales. One of Wingo's clients, online shoe retailer Grapevinehill, recently started listing its inventory on Google Base, in addition to eBay. Owner Mark Fitzgerald says he made the move in order to reach Google's broader audience, and that the new listings are already driving traffic to his store: "We definitely see some momentum building," he says.

eBay isn't blind to this shift in e-commerce. Its recent acquisitions and launches--comparison site Shopping.com and international classifieds site Kijiji--lend themselves to the listings business. But for now, eBay CEO Meg Whitman seems to be taking a wait-and-see approach, noting that Google hasn't enjoyed phenomenal success outside of search. "We'll be interested to see fundamentally how much traction Google Base gets relative to Gmail, relative to Google Talk," she told analysts at a Dec. 1 conference in Scottsdale, Ariz. And eBay's strongest defense could turn out to be its fraud and payment staff--more than 1,000 employees--which Google and Microsoft have yet to match. "It's a huge advantage," says analyst David Edwards of American Technology Research. "People overlook how complicated eBay's business is."

Make no mistake, eBay is still on top of the Internet pure-plays. But for the first time in its history, there may be friction in its frictionless business model.

VPN: Good or Bad?

I know what you may be thinking and that is how can a VPN be bad. It gives you straight connection to where you want. security! that makes people happy. it makes me happy to, but when my sales guy goes out and sales a AD structure to a small company to use a VPN it sucks...nothing but headaches! The biggest issue is I'm not building it from scratch...I have to use exsisting aweful peer-to-peer network and make it connect (useing a VPN) to my server with the AD... Sure not a problem. I did this...I created the VPN and connected it and everything was working fine. That is until they lost their connection to the internet. DOH! So I huffed it all the way back to my Server room (Yes I ran...Good thing I quit smoking or it would have been worse then it was) and unplug the vpn, disable the software connection and then reprogram the VPN the other way. (swap the server and client VPN ends) Now I'm writing staic routes and reconfiguring this whole thing and I'm a Windows Server Engineer...Not a router programmer... I dislike to program, I like to build and maintain servers. But due to the wonderful world that I live in I get to do it all. This isn't a big issue for me, just cause I don't like to do it doesn't mean I don't know how. I also know how to farm, but you will not see me doing that.
Anyway back to the VPN... So all in all it's not done yet, this week is the deadline and I'm under pressure cause I don't have enought time in the day to do my work, plus the remaining work out there. But, some of my best work comes from being under the gun so here I go!!

OK now that I got that out I feel better and focused.

You know after I posted it I realized I didn't say if they are bad or good. The answer is both.
Bad = when used to connect an office that uses the same internet but is seperate companies to a server, but only connecting one of the companies.
Good = In any other situation.

Lack of compassion

Lack of compassion – It’s strange that now in my life I sit back and wonder about these things now. I generally think of my self as a caring likable guy… but when it comes down to certain things I really done have any feeling, or I just don’t notice it. Let me explain:
I know someone that was recently in the hospitable, now when I seen his parent I ask about him and how he was doing… Why? Curious; yes. Cared about him; Not sure. And that is the part that I am wondering about. I’m Not sure. Now I could understand if I didn’t know him that well or his family, but I do… I remember when he was born and I am very close to his father. Why am I not sure? IT was making my head turn, I couldn’t nail this down! WHY?! I am Christian, I should! I don’t want to just pretend… I want to care! So I pray and then continue to live, what else is there to do? I know that compassion is one of the last gifts that I have… and I am taken Paul’s advice and praying diligently for a gift…to just have a small bit of it, or just help me understand why I don’t have that gift would be great.
Let’s throw another rock into the cog of thought process. I have a gift to evangelize; meaning I can walk up to a complete stranger and share my faith with him. Yet I really don’t care about that person. If they accept a similar belief then GREAT, if not that is ok as well. They have a life and it is their lives not mine. They get to make the choices they do, not me. If they was advice for the trip, directions on the journey, then I’m here to help and I’d be happy to do that.
REVELATION!! See this is why I write these out…it like praying to God in written form…helps me think…plus I have my friends reading this to discus. Anyway onto the Revelation; as I was writing I realized that I do care, although it may be a tiny bit, I do care. It is just not as much as maybe I think a Christian should. See God was just pointing out to me how to find what I was looking for... That I do care.. Isn’t God AWESOME!

So was was talking to my wife about the baptism topic that I wrote before and if I should open talk about it at church or not, know that the general belief at my church is the oppisite. What does she say? only something that put me in my place... 'We go there knowing what they belive and continue to go, who are we to try and change that?' Ah now those are words of wisdom, so if I did it would be to just do it...to get a rise out of someone. Are they wrong by believeing the way they do? No, I guess not...either way they except Christ and are baptized.

I'm blessed to have the wife I do.

This morning I had a long talk to a good friend of mine but the name of Kevin Bowman. Not just any kind of talk, a spiritual talk. We covered everything from salvation to gifts of the spirit. It was truly a good conversation. Little bit of venting and questions and answers. I am truly blessed to have such a great friend! Thanks Kevin.
Over the years I have found myself studying baptism and salvation. Over the years I had questioned the belief of the ‘church of Christ’ that baptism equals salvation. That you are not saved until you are dunked in the water. This never made sense to me, and when I started to really study The Word it became more unclear on how this was so. Christ states several times that you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. So I continued to study…
Paul says in Ephesians 2:8&9 that "We are saved by GRACE through FAITH and not of ourselves, it is a GIFT of God, NOT as a result of WORKS, that no one should boast."
If you ever stand before Christ Jesus and He asks you why should He let you into Heaven... you had better say, "Because of what You did for me on the cross," not, "Because I was baptized".
Mark 16:16 says, "He who believes and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned."
You notice that this verse does not say, "and he who has not been baptized shall be condemned,"
Now don’t get me wrong, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever that a believer should not get baptized, unless there is positively no water available, or in the case of a death bed conversion. It is a command to us as Christians.
If you are not save unless you are baptized, you should tell that to the thief on the cross! He didn't have the opportunity to be water baptized and yet because he cried out to Jesus for mercy, Jesus promised him that he would be in Paradise that very day with Him!
Also Jesus was baptized, and I guarantee you it wasn't for the remission of sin... for He was the perfect, sinless Lamb of God! If it is for cleansing your sins away then why did Christ get baptized? He said it must be done. Why? It was him performing an act of giving his life to God. According to the book of Romans that you are literally buried with Christ through baptism. Noooo… baptism SYMBOLIZES Christ’s death. It SYMBOLIZES your death, burial and resurrection. It is a confirmation to God from you that you are giving your life to him. The Jews were baptized…ask yourself what John the baptizer was doing? Now, I realize that it can sometimes be hard to discern when something is to be taken literally as opposed to being a type or symbol. When it comes to baptism, though, there are simply too many Scriptures that give the plan of salvation...and leave the subject of baptism out altogether. Legalism kills! As with all issues of faith, the letter of the Law brings death, but the Spirit brings life! (II Corinthians 3:6)
Again I must reiterate that no true believer should continue in an unbaptized state. Whereas we can see that God expects us to obey Him in this sacrament, nowhere do we see Him judge those without mercy, who have accepted His Son as their Savior. Bottom line? If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior...get baptized. It's the right thing to do!
Let go to Paul again, I Cor. 1:17, "Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel!" Now if baptism is the point of salvation, this statement would be utterly blasphemous. But in reality, it simply confirms what the rest of the Bible already teaches... that we are saved by grace, not works of any kind! As human beings, it is in our nature to want to earn our salvation. There is nothing wrong with wanting to please God. The problem comes in when the way we want to please God conflicts with the way He wants it. If we look at Romans 10:9-10, we see God giving us the plan of salvation in a very simple and straightforward way. The Apostle Paul says that we are saved by confessing that Jesus is (our) Lord! Now that can't be true, can it? We don't get saved by simply believing and confessing that Jesus is Lord, do we? That is just too easy. There must be more to it than that, isn't there? Don't we have to do something to earn it? According to human wisdom, we have to deserve such a great gift. But in issues of life and salvation, sometimes we have to set aside our earthly "wisdom" and simply accept God at His Word. Whether we understand God's Mercy and Grace or not, doesn't change His terms. He has made it simple so that anyone can be saved. But man comes along and tries to make it "better." But you cannot improve on perfection! God's ways are higher than our ways, and He says that salvation is a gift, that no one can earn. So my advice is to take God at his word and receive the greatest gift ever offered; Salvation by Grace through Faith in Jesus Christ!

Why do people still think like this?

I was enlightened yet again this past weekend of a aweful way of thinking that still dominates some churches. That is that a certin non-denomination is infact that only christians that will infact be saved! This is ABSERD!! Last I check the word Christian ment Christ like, and all that strive to be Christ like are christians. You don't have to fellowship with a set group of other christians and go to a certian building that has a sign out front with three words on it... This is not what makes you a christian, this is not was gives you salvation! It is not up to you to deem someone saved, That's Gods choice! Don't try and take Gods job away from him... Perhaps when people realize that everyone has a differant walk with God and everyones faith is differant, then maybe we will get along a little better and there will be less people in the world that come up to me while I am having a disscusion on religion in public and rip into me, because they had a bad experiance with a 'bible banger'.
With in the last five years I've come to a new realization of my Christian walk and how I am to teach and spead the word... and guess what? It's in the Bible!! That is to live the life of a Christian, as in, being a good person. Never push my beliefs onto others, but they know what and where I stand. If they have questions they know that I will not degrade their beliefs or try and convert them, that is their choice. I simple present the facts and what I know and let them choose.
Does this work? I don;t know who many I may have effected, but I do know of at least one. Got a phone call over the Holidays from a very good friend of mine that was very anti organized church and didn't belive the Bible as a whole, but was well versed in it (Had read it several times). I was just there being me and hoping to influance him. It started as him saying sorry everytime he used the Lord's name in vain or swore... At that point I knew I was affecting him. Then when he called he is a reborn Christian and dating a girl and planning on getting married... He said to me "Man, I should have listen to you more and asked you more questions!" This made me laugh and I just said, "I'm here still, ask away."
Now I'm not saying this method will reach all or will be a method that is good for all, but I would like to see people more Open minded and willing to learn and look at things in a differant light. One thing that I always found intresting about the Bible is I can read it 50+ times and get something new everytime! Now that is AMAZING!!

So my son last year saved up his money for a GameBoy Advanced. I was so proud of him for having the ability to save for an expensive item. So, anyway, for Christmas he got a game... Poke'mon Emerald. I'm not a Poke'mon fan, but I am a RPG fan. And that game is a RPG! Blast those game companies! I find my self staying up late at night playing a gameboy after my son goes to bed. Then on other nights I play EQ2... My wife thinks I play to much games, I think I don't have enough time to play.

So where is the happy balance? Is there one? If I ever find it I'll clue you in.

I know some of you are thinking, what happen to your nice Blogg you had before? Why Black? I say why not? Plus I didn't like the templet.

I'm slowly teaching myself basic HTML and will one day have a cool site!! So hang in there and I'll get it all worked out.

Wife and Kids are back!

Well, I've been slacking spend time with the wife and kids and trying to play catch-up at work, as well as trying to repair my PC at home.

I picked up the wife and kids a week ago today and we had our Christmas. It was nice to sit down and watch the kids open their presents and see the look on there faces. Every year I am overjoyed to see them happy. I care less and less about my gifts. Sign of me growing older and wise. For as we have all heard, 'It is better to give then to recieve.'

Other things: When do I get to say I'm an offical non smoker? according to my insurance it is 1 year. It is amazing that not only do I save a ton on a daily basis on smokes, but on life insurance as well... Smoking is just to costly! (duh! how long did that take me to figure out.)

I coun't think of a good title. What's going on in my life? Well my Wife and Kids are still gone, I miss them so much, but I'm making it. Can't wait until Thur when they come back home, then we get to open presents and enjoy them again.

Workwise, things are going well...I just finished my umtenth VPN and finishing up my new Domain Controller and all the AD setup and GPO! Keeping busy trying to repair a bunch of servers running Windows Server 2k3 that were set up so badly, sometimes I wonder why people that don't know what they are doing as Administrators get into the business with paper Certs! I'm just extremly thankfull that the Lord has blessed me with what I have, only with his help am I where I am today.

Faithwise: Doing good, I miss praise and worship at VA... It is so hard to switch from Praise and worship back to old school hymms (sp?). But otherwise I'm doing good...Want to take a moment and tell everyone about Demon Hunter. They are a band that is Christian and they play some wonderful music. :) hehe...if you like Metal. http://www.thethirdwar.com/
Many of the member worked for Tooth and Nail... It's nice to listen to music I love in a Christian format! Praise God for giving us that gifts to express to widen our spreading of Gods word through Music. Because of them, they reach a new group of kids that would not otherwise reach.

Breaking Habbits

I tell you this, I have done allot of bad things in my life and broke those habbits. Re found my faith and now it is stronger then ever. But quiting smoking is one of the most painful things I have done (Mentally). If I can give one piece of advice it would be this; DON'T Start! Let me explain; Don't start cause it is bad for you, or it is so expensive... That isn't a big deal... The issue is if you start you will one day want to quit, and quiting is the hardest thing to do. Shoot I've quit 3+ time now and each time it is harder and harder to quit.
This time I have my wife and I am praying a ton!! I figure between God and the support from my wife I can do it. But if anyone else reads this, give a little shoot out to God for me, I'd like that.

Wife and Kids are gone :(

Well I dropped the wife and kids off at the airport to go back to VA to see the family. It was very diffacult to watch my wife and kids leave and to know that they will be gone for Christmas. So I'm lonely for the next week. I can only hope that it will go by fast. I'll most likly work a ton.
